Starting July 1, plastic transport cards for payment in public transport will become more expensive in Kyiv.

New prices for transport cards
From the beginning of July, the regular blue transport card will cost 96 hryvnias, while the personalized student card will cost 120 hryvnias. According to the company, this increase is due to changes in production processes, rising logistics costs, and other components of the cards’ cost. Manufacturers are forced to respond to the economic situation, which is why the price of the cards is rising.
At the same time, representatives of “Kyivpastrans” assure that cards purchased earlier remain valid and can be topped up and used on public transport, and the cost of trips will also remain unchanged. Only the prices for new plastic cards will change.
Reasons for the price difference and alternatives
“Kyivpastrans” explains the price difference by the specifics of production: blue cards are produced in large batches, making them cheaper. In contrast, student cards are made individually with personalization, which increases their cost.
In addition to plastic cards, passengers can purchase a digital transport card, which is stored on their phone. It offers the same discounts on large trip packages or passes as the plastic card and is a convenient alternative to physical cards.
