In Kyiv, in the green recreation area of Sovskiy Ponds, unknown individuals carried out a mass tree felling. The incident occurred near Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue, 115, next to the Ukrnafta gas station.

Details of the Illegal Felling

According to preliminary data, during an inspection of the site, specialists from the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration recorded the destruction of 46 trees of various species and diameters. The total area where the illegal felling took place is about 180 square meters.

“Yesterday, August 28, following a massive attack on Kyiv, unidentified individuals illegally removed trees in the territory of Sovskiy Ponds,” the statement reads.

Government Response and Investigative Actions

A statement regarding the crime has already been sent to the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Prosecutor General’s Office for appropriate investigation and to hold those responsible accountable. Law enforcement agencies are currently identifying the individuals involved in the felling.

The city authorities urge citizens to be vigilant in preserving green areas and to report similar incidents to prevent environmental violations in the future.
