Details of the Case and Investigation Progress

This concerns a political force whose activities were terminated by the court in October of this year due to identified falsifications of founding documents. Despite the dissolution of the party, its leader continued to engage in illegal activities. Law enforcement officers detained the individual in a Kyiv restaurant during the transfer of 160 thousand dollars for including a person in the party lists.

“Law enforcement officers detained the individual in one of the Kyiv restaurants when he received 160 thousand US dollars for including a person in the party. According to the case materials, among other things, the individual publicly spread fake news about the Defense Forces and the socio-political situation in Ukraine,” the statement said.

Additional Charges and Preventive Measures

The Security Service of Ukraine also claims that the suspect had been spreading disinformation about the Defense Forces for some time, supporting Kremlin narratives regarding the situation at the front, and calling for the disruption of mobilization. He has been charged with committing fraud on a particularly large scale.

Currently, the man has been taken into custody with the right to post bail of 6 million 725 thousand hryvnias. Investigative actions are ongoing, and his actions may receive additional legal qualification. The name of the detained individual has not been officially disclosed; however, circumstances suggest a possible connection to the political force “Garant,” led by Valeriy Tokar. His lawyer stated that he is contesting the grounds for the charges in court.
