Massive strikes on fuel infrastructure in Russia
According to Ukrainian command, the base of the ship “Novorossiysk” in Krasnodar Krai, an oil refinery, and a fuel and lubricants depot near Engels in the Saratov region were hit. The operation was carried out using modern Ukrainian weapons, including Neptune cruise missiles and strike drones.
The General Staff reported that significant damage to the port’s infrastructure, the oil terminal “Sheskharis,” as well as to the launch system of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system and a missile storage facility was recorded at the ship base in Novorossiysk, accompanied by explosions and a fire. The extent of the damage is being clarified.
“In addition, there was damage to the infrastructure of the fuel and lubricants storage enterprise ‘Kombinat Kristal’ in the Engels area of the Saratov region of the Russian Federation. Explosions were recorded in the target area, followed by a fire on the premises of the facility,” the report states.
The terminal “Sheskharis,” as emphasized by the General Staff, is one of the largest complexes for the transshipment of oil and petroleum products in southern Russia and provides logistics for Russian military operations involved in the war against Ukraine.
Reaction and consequences of the attacks
According to the Defense Forces’ summary, strikes were also carried out on the “Saratov” oil refinery, where explosions and a fire were recorded. The results of the strikes are being clarified.
Sources in the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed the damage to the “Novorossiysk” port and hits on the positions of the S-300/400 anti-aircraft missile system located within military unit 1537 in Novorossiysk.
On the night of November 14, as reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian forces successfully employed “long Neptunes” against designated targets on Russian territory.
As a result of the massive drone attack, a state of emergency was declared in Novorossiysk. According to official data, debris from downed UAVs damaged several infrastructure facilities, including four apartment buildings, and one person was injured.
After the strikes, Novorossiysk suspended oil exports, and the company “Transneft” halted oil supplies, as confirmed by industry data.
Ukraine continues to escalate drone attacks deep into Russian territory with the aim of disabling oil refineries and pipelines, as well as weakening the funding sources for the Russian military campaign.
The Russian authorities acknowledge that these strikes are harming the country’s economy. In September, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that it views attacks on oil infrastructure as “deliberate sabotage of economic infrastructure by Ukraine and its foreign patrons.”
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasizes that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are systematically taking measures to reduce the combat potential of Russian occupation forces and to compel Russia to cease its aggression against Ukraine.
