An explosion occurred at ‘Ukrposhta’ in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv due to packages containing explosives

As a result of the explosion that rocked the Kyiv postal branch, five people were injured, including postal workers and customs officials. The incident caused significant public outcry in the capital.
Sender of the Explosive Packages Identified
Law enforcement in the capital quickly identified the individual responsible for sending the dangerous packages. He turned out to be a 40-year-old resident of Ternopil.
“According to law enforcement, during the inspection of the scene, the investigative team, bomb technicians, and police dog handlers found remnants of a shell. They also identified the sender of the package, who was a 40-year-old resident of Ternopil. Together with customs officials, they discovered another explosive package containing hollowed-out ammunition at the sorting center.”
Searches, Seizure of Ammunition, and Criminal Proceedings
During a joint operation by the police of Kyiv and Ternopil, the sender was detained at his residence. During a search of his apartment, ten more pieces of ammunition were found. According to preliminary information, the man was manufacturing souvenirs from ammunition, engraving them, and then mailing them.
Investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal handling of weapons, military ammunition, or explosive substances. The penalty for this article provides for imprisonment for up to seven years.
