Official Abuses in the Capital: Investigation Details

Since the beginning of the year, law enforcement agencies in the capital have reported suspicions of official crimes against more than 80 officials of the Kyiv City State Administration, its subdivisions, and municipal enterprises. The losses incurred to the city budget in these criminal proceedings exceed 280 million hryvnias.
Transfer of Cases to Court and the Scale of Losses
According to official information, in 2025, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office has already sent indictments in 109 criminal proceedings to court. The total amount of damage caused by the actions or inactions of officials from the Kyiv City State Administration or employees of municipal enterprises in these cases has exceeded 1 billion hryvnias.
Mechanisms of Abuse and Nature of Offenses
Law enforcement officials note that the most common schemes that led to the embezzlement of budget funds included purchases at inflated prices, payment for non-existent goods and services, as well as other similar abuses.
“This year alone, suspicions have been reported against 81 individuals in criminal proceedings where the amount of damages exceeds 280 million UAH,” the statement reads
The investigation is ongoing, and some criminal proceedings have already been transferred to courts for substantive consideration. City authorities urge citizens to report any possible cases of corruption and violations in the use of budget funds.
