Mykhailo Fedorov Denies Plans for Electronic Voting via Diia

Федоров прокоментував можливість проведення виборів через «Дію»

The conduct of elections using the Diia app is currently not being considered, and no practical or technical actions are being taken in this direction. This was stated by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.

The Discussion on Elections via Diia is Only Public

Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that the issue of conducting elections via Diia is discussed exclusively in the public sphere. According to him, neither the Ministry of Digital Transformation nor the app development team is working on the implementation of electronic voting.

“For this, it is necessary for the parliament to vote on changes to the laws, the Central Election Commission to make a decision on whether this is needed, and who will actually do it. And at this moment, apart from some online discussion, no work is being done in this direction,” the minister said in response to questions on the social media platform TikTok.

Elections During Martial Law in Ukraine are Impossible

Ukrainian legislation does not allow for the conduct of elections during the period of martial law. In particular, due to the full-scale aggression of Russia, which began on February 24, 2022, elections to the Verkhovna Rada, scheduled for 2023, as well as presidential elections that were supposed to take place in 2024, did not occur in the country.

In light of these events, Russian authorities and propaganda resources are spreading messages about the alleged illegitimacy of the current government in Ukraine due to the absence of elections.

Following recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the need to organize elections in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed readiness to conduct voting while also calling on the United States to guarantee the security of the electoral process.

Martial law in Ukraine has been in effect since February 24, 2022, due to the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
