Foreign Journalist Documenting the Destruction of a Temple

Daphne Westdorp, a reporter for the Dutch publication Het Nederlands Dagblad, was at the site of the shelling, documenting the aftermath of the destruction of the Holy Assumption Temple. At that moment, a Russian FPV drone appeared over the journalists’ position, attempting to carry out an attack on the film crew.

Video Evidence of the Rescue

Everything that happened was recorded on Oleg Petrasyuk’s action camera. The footage shows the press officer opening fire with his rifle and shooting down the drone, after which he advises the journalist to immediately cease filming for safety reasons, as there was a threat of a repeated attack.

“This occurred while accompanying the journalist from the Dutch publication Het Nederlands Dagblad. The reporter was documenting the destruction of the Holy Assumption Temple as a result of the occupiers’ shelling. At that time, the enemy FPV attempted to attack the film crew,” the brigade wrote on their Facebook page.

The video from the scene has been posted on the official Facebook page of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel.

Additionally, it is known that Oleg Petrasyuk is the son of Kyiv journalist Vadym Petrasyuk, who voluntarily joined the defense of the capital in 2022.
