Purpose of the Visit and the Prince’s Statement
Upon arriving in the capital of Ukraine, Prince Harry stated that he was «pleased to return to Ukraine», emphasizing his support for the Ukrainian people. In an interview with ITV News, he noted that he came to remind the world of the challenges Ukraine faces and to express gratitude to the individuals and organizations that carry out important work every day despite difficult circumstances.
Harry told ITV News that he wanted to «remind people at home and around the world of what Ukraine is facing, as well as support the people and partners who are doing outstanding work in extremely challenging conditions every hour of every day.»
History of Visits and Harry’s Charitable Activities
Prince Harry first visited Kyiv in September 2025 at the invitation of the Ukrainian government to assist in the rehabilitation of injured soldiers. During his previous trip, he also visited Lviv, where, according to him, «the war is hardly visible».
Since 2014, under Prince Harry’s initiative, the Invictus Games for military personnel with disabilities have been held internationally. The Invictus Games Foundation, which organizes these competitions, provides support to Ukrainian defenders, including supplying them with sports equipment for rehabilitation.
In 2020, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States. The prince’s relationship with the British royal family remains strained, partly due to his marriage to Markle. However, in a conversation with the BBC, Harry expressed hope for reconciliation with his family.
