How the FSB Agent Operated in Kyiv
Law enforcement officials established that a 24-year-old IT specialist from one of the capital’s universities, recruited by Russian special services, organized the transmission of videos from Kyiv for the benefit of the enemy. The young man caught the attention of the FSB while seeking side jobs in Telegram channels. He was offered a monetary reward for assisting in the organization of video surveillance.
Following the curator’s instructions, the agent rented apartments in various districts of Kyiv, the addresses of which he received in advance. In the windows of these residences, he installed cameras with remote access, allowing Russian special services to receive real-time video footage of the aftermath of attacks and the location of Ukrainian air defense assets.
Exposure and Arrest of the Spy
In addition to targeting capital facilities, the perpetrator placed “video traps” near railway tracks where, according to the aggressor, military trains could pass. The video broadcasts were used to clarify coordinates and conduct repeated attacks on the city.
SBU counterintelligence agents uncovered the agent’s activities in advance and documented his actions. He was arrested while installing another camera in a rented apartment.
“The occupiers were spying in real-time on potential targets in the capital.”
During the search, a video camera and a mobile phone with evidence of contacts with the FSB curator were seized. The perpetrator is in custody and awaiting trial. He faces life imprisonment for treason.
