The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to temporarily suspend the competition for the position of head of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine due to an ongoing investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. This was announced on the evening of November 13 by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Reasons for the suspension of the competition

Svyrydenko noted that the government halted the competition due to the publication of materials from the NABU investigation regarding possible abuses at the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom.” One of the finalists for the position of head of the Gas Transmission System Operator is mentioned in the investigation.

“In such circumstances, continuing the competition procedure is incompatible with the principles of transparency, integrity, and trust in the process. The competition will be resumed after an additional integrity check of its participants,” Svyrydenko stated.

The candidacy of Oksana Kryvenko

According to several media outlets, this concerns Oksana Kryvenko — she was considered by the Supervisory Board of the Gas Transmission System Operator as the main candidate for the position of CEO of the company. Kryvenko previously worked as an advisor to former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and also has experience in the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Public Utilities (NERC).

It is worth noting that due to her activities at the regulator, Kryvenko was involved in the “Rotterdam+” case. Despite this, the Supervisory Board of the company named her the “most qualified” candidate for the position of head of the strategic enterprise.
