Main Tasks for the New Government

At the first government meeting, Svyrydenko tasked each minister with developing a clear and specific action plan as quickly as possible, avoiding general formulations and abstractions. She emphasized that these plans should be publicly presented, discussed with the relevant parliamentary committees, and subject to ongoing monitoring and reporting.

“Each minister must determine a specific action plan as quickly as possible. No abstractions.”

Svyrydenko highlighted the importance of constructive cooperation between the government and the Verkhovna Rada, noting her positive experience of interaction with the parliamentary economic committee and expressing confidence that such cooperation is possible in other areas as well.

Reduction of Government Apparatus and Personnel Changes

The Prime Minister pointed out that the new composition of the government is one of the smallest in the history of independent Ukraine, indicating an intention to reduce the state apparatus and increase its efficiency. She stressed that optimizing the government structure will allow for a quicker response to challenges and faster implementation of changes.

On the same day, the Verkhovna Rada supported a number of personnel changes initiated by the president. In particular, former Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal was appointed as the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

The appointment of Yulia Svyrydenko as Prime Minister and the formation of the new government took place on the morning of July 17 during a parliamentary session.
