The project completion deadline has been postponed by another year
This is reported by Kyiv24
The construction of the new line of the Kyiv metro towards Vynogradar is now planned to be completed not in 2026, as previously reported, but in 2027. According to official information, this deadline may be shifted again due to unsatisfactory work progress.
Budget increase and progress of work
In the last six months since the project was resumed, only about 0.5% of the total work volume has been completed. Despite the slow pace of construction, the overall estimated cost of the project has already reached 23 billion hryvnias. For comparison, it was initially set at 14 billion. In particular, on June 10 of this year, the Kyiv City Council allocated an additional 1.7 billion hryvnias for the continuation of construction work on the metro line to Vynogradar.

Experts’ doubts about the prospects for completion
Experts are skeptical about the prospects for completing the construction within the new deadlines. They note that seeking external funding for such infrastructure projects under the current conditions seems unlikely.
“Mayor Klitschko says he will seek external funding for the construction of the metro to Troieschyna or Vynogradar. This is all, in fact, fairy tales. No financial company will invest money into a void. We need to face the truth, stop squandering Kyiv’s budget, and focus on what can be realistically achieved, rather than on fantasies,” said transportation expert and co-founder of the NGO “Passengers of Kyiv” Oleksandr Hrechko in a comment to journalists of the YouTube project.

The metro project to Vynogradar remains one of the largest infrastructure constructions in Kyiv, but its future prospects depend on funding and the organization of work.
