Ukraine is preparing to hold a competition for the development of the lithium deposit ‘Dobra’, located in the Kirovohrad region. This was announced by the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, on the evening of June 18.

First Joint Project with the USA
“This could become the first project within the framework of cooperation with the USA. I am pleased to see that the process is underway and the results of our meetings in Washington a week ago are turning into concrete actions”
According to Yermak, specific steps are already being taken to implement the agreements reached during recent negotiations in Washington. In addition, during the G7 summit in Canada, Andriy Yermak, along with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, held a meeting with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. During this meeting, the parties discussed in detail further cooperation in the fields of economy and investment.
Economic Partnership between Ukraine and the USA
As of June 2025, there are no official comments from the USA regarding the competition for the development of the ‘Dobra’ deposit.
It is worth noting that at the end of April, Ukraine and the United States signed an agreement on economic partnership and the establishment of a Reconstruction Investment Fund. As Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko stated, this agreement ensures full ownership and control remains with Ukraine, and the fund is being formed on a parity basis – 50-50. Additionally, Ukraine will not assume any debt obligations to the USA, and the agreement will not hinder integration into the European Union. The investment fund will be replenished from revenues generated by new licenses.
The agreement to establish the American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund came into effect in May, following the exchange of diplomatic notes between the countries.
