Ukraine’s Position on Crimea
«Ukraine has not yet received any official proposals regarding exchanges or ceding territories… Crimea is not up for discussion… Ukraine does not recognize the legal occupation of Crimea; this is beyond our Constitution. This is our territory, the territory of the people of Ukraine. This will not happen,» Zelensky noted.
Discussion of Possible Compromises at International Levels
According to reports from American media, including The Washington Post, citing unnamed sources, U.S. representatives during a meeting in London on April 23 may have proposed that Ukraine and Europe recognize Crimea as Russian territory and freeze the conflict along the current front line. Such a proposal provoked a sharp reaction in Kyiv, as it is unacceptable for Ukraine from both legal and national perspectives.
