Ukraine Expands List of Hero Cities: New Communities Recognized by the State

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, celebrated on the Feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, the President signed a decree awarding the honorary title of “Hero City” to new Ukrainian cities.

The Head of State emphasized that these are cities that stand in defense of the entire country, saving thousands of Ukrainian lives. He highlighted the importance of recognizing those communities that often bear the greatest burden in defense and demonstrate resilience in the fight against the enemy.

The list of new hero cities includes:

  • Pavlohrad, Nikopol, Marhanets (Dnipropetrovsk region)
  • Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk (Donetsk region)
  • Huliaipole, Orikhiv (Zaporizhzhia region)
  • Voznesensk, Bashtanka (Mykolaiv region)
  • Sumy, Trostianets (Sumy region)
  • Kupiansk (Kharkiv region)
  • Starokostiantyniv (Khmelnytskyi region)

Significance of the Award for Communities

The President noted that recognizing these cities today is an acknowledgment of their contribution to defense, as well as a thank you to their residents for their courage and resilience.

“I am proud of you! It is an honor to represent such a people, such cities, communities, and such brave individuals,” said Zelensky.

Thus, the list of hero cities of Ukraine has been enriched with new names, whose residents continue to demonstrate bravery and resilience in the most challenging conditions of martial law.
