Ukraine has the full right to independently determine when and whether foreign troops should be on its territory. This opinion was expressed by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski during a press conference in Madrid. He met with colleagues from Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom to discuss a peace plan for Ukraine.

“The first thing we must keep in mind is that Ukraine decides whether and which foreign troops can be on its territory, Ukraine and no one else. There are currently no results from any negotiations. If Ukraine requests security guarantees in the form of foreign presence, then the international community will decide in what form this can be. What cannot be allowed is for Putin to dictate who can or cannot be in Ukraine,” Sikorski stated.
Sikorski also emphasized that the issue of peacekeepers is premature, as a ceasefire has not yet been achieved, let alone peace that needs to be defended.
Recall that on March 27, a summit of leaders from 27 countries took place in Paris, where guarantees for Ukraine after a possible ceasefire were discussed, including the potential deployment of a “coalition of the willing” forces on its territory.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that a Franco-British military delegation would soon arrive in Ukraine. According to him, the delegation, consisting of the chiefs of staff of the armed forces of France and the United Kingdom, aims to determine the format of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in all areas, including land, air, and naval.
Macron also noted that the Western contingents in Ukraine, proposed by the “coalition of the willing” led by France and Britain, will not be stationed on the front line but will be located at strategic points in the peace zone as security support forces.
