Timeline for Resuming Broadcasts
Despite the decision made, the broadcasts will not resume immediately. As noted by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the Holos faction, the launch of the broadcasts will only take place from mid-September.
“However, they refused to resume the broadcast today. Therefore, the ‘Rada’ will only start operating from mid-September”
Reasons for Suspension and Public Demands
Live broadcasts of parliamentary sessions were suspended on February 24, 2022, for security reasons due to the onset of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. An exception was made for the session on July 31, when the broadcast was temporarily resumed during discussions on issues regarding NABU and SAP.
Earlier, on July 28, over fifty civil society organizations and media representatives appealed to the Verkhovna Rada, urging the return of transparency in parliamentary work and the resumption of online broadcasts of sessions, starting from the upcoming session on July 31.
