Sporting Dynasty and the Path to Success

Pole vaulting has been an integral part of Matviy Strogalev’s life since childhood. His mother, Anzhela Balakhonova, is a well-known Ukrainian athlete: an indoor and outdoor European champion, a silver medalist at the World Championship, an Olympic finalist, and now a coach. His father, Vadym Strogalev, is also a finalist at World Championships and works as a coach. Matviy’s older brother, Nikita, also specializes in pole vaulting and has already achieved fifth place at the Junior World Championship.

Thus, the Strogalev sporting family is laying a solid foundation for the development of Ukrainian athletics, and Matviy’s achievements are a vivid testament to the talent and perseverance of the new generation of Ukrainian athletes.
