Discussion of Diplomatic Efforts and Cooperation
During the conversation, Zelensky informed Ramaphosa about key diplomatic initiatives that Ukraine is implementing in collaboration with international partners. In particular, he mentioned meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington and emphasized the need to end the war, which, according to him, “has never been needed by anyone except Russia.”
“I once again confirmed that I am ready for any format of meeting with the Russian leader. However, we see that Moscow is once again trying to drag things out even further. It is important for the Global South to send the appropriate signals and push Russia towards peace,” Zelensky stated.
Plans for Further Cooperation and Security
The heads of state discussed the prospects for developing joint work with African countries, as well as strengthening partnerships in the area of food security and creating a platform for effective dialogue. Zelensky stressed the importance of supporting the Global South in efforts to end the war and achieve peace.
According to him, the parties agreed to maintain constant contact for further discussions on relevant issues. Ramaphosa is currently refraining from public comments regarding this conversation.
It is worth noting that at the beginning of August, Volodymyr Zelensky had already held talks with the President of South Africa, during which Ramaphosa shared the results of his dialogue with representatives of the Russian Federation.
