Zelensky is convinced that Navalny was poisoned, but does not name the substance

Зеленський впевнений, що Навальний був отруєний, але не знає, чим саме

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced that Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny was poisoned, although he is unaware of the exact substance used. The head of state made this statement on February 14 during a conversation with journalists at the Munich Security Conference.

Zelensky on possible threats from Putin

When asked if he fears similar threats from Russian President Vladimir Putin and what steps the West can take to prevent the use of poison against political opponents, Zelensky noted that he does not know what may happen in the future, but Ukraine fights daily for its survival.

“I don’t think about myself because we have lost many people. I am one of the people in Ukraine, and we are fighting for this… I cannot think about Vladimir Putin and his poisonous ambitions, if he has them, and he does. I don’t think about this because then I won’t have anything else to think about. I don’t have time for that.”

Russian attacks and Zelensky’s position

The president pointed out that the Russian army continues to carry out massive shelling of Ukrainian regions, using hundreds of drones and missiles. He emphasized that he sees no difference between poisoning and missile strikes, as both methods are manifestations of aggression from the Russian Federation.

It is worth noting that five European countries today released a joint conclusion stating that Alexei Navalny died in prison on February 16, 2024, as a result of poisoning with a substance called epibatidine.
