Zelensky Warns of Possible New Massive Airstrike by Russia on the Night of January 9

“There is information that there may be a new Russian massive strike tonight. It is very important to pay attention to air raid alerts today, tomorrow, constantly, and to seek shelter. The Russians are unchanging: they are trying to take advantage of the weather,” emphasized the head of state.

Situation in Regions After Previous Shelling

Zelensky spoke about the situation in regions affected by Russian attacks on January 7. In particular, there were serious problems with electricity supply and other essential services in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. In Zaporizhzhia, electricity supply was restored according to schedules during the day. However, in the cities of Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol, Pavlohrad, and other communities in Dnipropetrovsk, repair work is still ongoing.

According to the president, in Kryvyi Rih, the Russians targeted not only energy infrastructure but also residential areas. As a result of the evening shelling, five people were injured in the city, including a child. One of the injured is in serious condition.

Weather Conditions and Call for Caution

Forecasters predict a significant drop in temperature across most of Ukraine within the next day. According to their data, daytime temperatures are expected to reach up to minus 10 degrees Celsius, while at night, temperatures may drop to minus 15 degrees. These weather conditions are expected to persist for about a week, further complicating the work of emergency services and electricity supply in affected areas.

In light of the worsening cold and the threat of new attacks, authorities urge Ukrainians to closely monitor announcements and adhere to safety measures, especially during prolonged air raid alerts.
