1000 Bodies of Fallen Soldiers Transferred to Ukraine for Identification

The Ukrainian side received 1000 bodies from Russia, which it claims belong to Ukrainian defenders who died during combat operations. This transfer took place as part of a repatriation operation organized jointly by Ukrainian state structures.
Efforts by State Authorities to Return the Fallen
The repatriation process involved employees from the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other security and defense sector structures.
Identification and Further Actions
Currently, law enforcement specialists, together with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, are working to establish the identities of the fallen soldiers as quickly as possible. After identification, the bodies will be handed over to their families for dignified burial.
“Investigators from law enforcement agencies, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will establish the identities of the deceased in the shortest possible time. Glory to the fallen Heroes!” the statement reads.
