Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, expressed hope that the next prisoner exchange between Ukraine and the Russian Federation will take place in the coming days. He stated this in an interview with the television channel “Suspilne” on February 23.

According to Kyrylo Budanov, the next round of negotiations with Russia regarding the prisoner exchange is likely to take place on February 26-27. The main topic during the negotiations remains the issue of control over territories, as the Russian Federation insists on its authority over Donbas.

Recall that on February 5 of this year, Ukraine conducted its 71st prisoner exchange with Russia, resulting in the return of 157 individuals from captivity — 150 military personnel and seven civilians. This was the first prisoner exchange of 2026, demonstrating the activity of the Ukrainian negotiation team in matters concerning the release of its citizens.
