Kyiv is experiencing the aftermath of Russia’s nighttime attack
This is reported by Kyiv24
On the night of June 6, the capital of Ukraine suffered a powerful combined airstrike from Russian occupiers. According to operational information, four people were killed and at least twenty others were injured as a result of the attack. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in several locations, so the number of casualties may rise.
Damage to the Metro and Transportation Restrictions
Due to the massive shelling, the tracks and cables on the section of the metro between the “Darnytsia” and “Livoberezhna” stations (red line) were damaged. As a result, train services are temporarily limited — they are only operating between the “Akademmistechko” and “Arsenalna” stations with extended intervals. Preliminary estimates suggest that restoring full service will take approximately one day.
Additionally, a section of the Shulyavsky overpass has been closed on Vadym Hetman Street — from Anton Tsedyk Street to Oleksa Tykhyi Street, which has also impacted city traffic.
Large Fires and Consequences of the Shelling
In the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv, a large fire broke out on the 11th floor of a 16-story residential building due to a missile strike. A fire was also reported in a metal hangar covering an area of about 500 square meters. Another fire was caused in the Holosiivskyi district at a civil infrastructure facility.
“Debris from downed aerial targets has also been reported falling in the Desnyanskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts of Kyiv. In particular, a gas station in the Dniprovskyi district was significantly damaged. In some areas near the fire sites, damage to windows in social service facilities and residential buildings has been recorded.”
As a result of the shelling, 2,167 families on the left bank of Kyiv were left without electricity. Energy workers are already working to eliminate the consequences, but full restoration of electricity will take some time.
