A tragic traffic accident on the Ring Road in Kyiv claimed the life of a pensioner.

Circumstances of the Fatal Accident
In Kyiv, a criminal investigation has been opened regarding the traffic accident that occurred on the Ring Road today around 7:00 AM. According to preliminary information, a 40-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter truck was heading towards the Zhulyansky Bridge when, coming from Serhiy Kolos Street, he failed to yield to a female pedestrian at an unregulated crosswalk and struck her.
As a result of the collision, a 68-year-old resident of the capital sustained injuries incompatible with life and died at the scene of the incident.
Police Actions and Possible Punishment
The truck driver has been detained for necessary investigative actions. According to the results of a medical examination, no alcohol was found in the man’s blood.

A criminal case has been opened regarding the tragedy. The perpetrator of the accident could face up to eight years in prison under current legislation.
