Law enforcement officers in Kyiv have uncovered a former police employee attempting to receive a large bribe for securing employment at a military institute.

Scheme for Exemption from Conscription
According to the prosecutor’s office, the ex-law enforcement officer promised a conscripted resident of Kyiv assistance in obtaining a job at one of the military institutes. The aim of this “assistance” was to secure an exemption from mobilization. For his services, the man demanded 10,000 US dollars, justifying this by claiming to have the necessary connections in the relevant structures due to his previous experience in law enforcement.
Kyiv prosecutors have charged the former police officer, who promised to employ a conscripted Kyiv resident at a military institute for a bribe of 10,000 US dollars in exchange for an exemption.
Arrest and Legal Qualification
The man was arrested while receiving the full amount of the agreed bribe. The actions of the suspect have been classified under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This pertains to receiving unlawful benefits with the aim of influencing the decisions of a person authorized to perform state functions, accompanied by the demand for such benefits.
Investigative actions are ongoing, and the prosecutor’s office emphasizes the responsibility for such crimes, especially in conditions of martial law.
