62-year-old Fred Grendy died of a heart attack on June 17, when the Russian Federation carried out another missile strike on the capital of Ukraine. He arrived in Kyiv at the end of May, shortly before his birthday, to assist Ukrainians in clearing the aftermath of the attacks on the city.

Grendy was a well-known artist and decided to come to Ukraine as a volunteer. His goal was to clear the debris of buildings left after the Russian missile attacks. According to his sister, who lives in Oregon, he was eager to make a positive change and actively sought ways to be helpful during the war.
“He arrived in the capital of Ukraine at the end of May, shortly before his 62nd birthday, and volunteered to clear the debris left by the Russian attacks,” the report states.
