Reasons for the delay in starting heating

As reported by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Petro Panteleev, the technical preparations for the heating season have already been completed; however, the temperature in the capital remains sufficiently high. This allows for a delay in turning on centralized heating in residential buildings.

“In principle, we could start the heating season now; technically, we are ready for it. But given that the weather is still not very cold, and gas needs to be used very judiciously since the enemy is effectively destroying the gas infrastructure. Therefore, we must be mindful. And there is currently no decision regarding the start of the heating season; we are waiting for the weather conditions to be such that it will be appropriate to begin the heating season,” he said.

Temperature readings and social infrastructure connections

Petro Panteleev clarified that traditionally, the heating season in the capital starts when the average daily temperature drops to +8 degrees Celsius. Currently, Kyiv is experiencing relatively warm weather both at night and during the day. According to meteorologists’ forecasts, a brief cold snap is expected in the coming days; however, the temperature will rise again to +16 degrees.

At the same time, the city’s social infrastructure facilities are already heated and connected to the heating system to ensure comfortable conditions for the most vulnerable segments of the population.
