Traffic Restrictions on the Podilsky Bridge Starting October 20

Starting Monday, October 20, a new traffic regime will be implemented on the Podilsky Bridge in Kyiv. According to the head of the KMVA, Tymur Tkachenko, these changes are being introduced at the request of the military. During an air alert, traffic on the bridge from the right bank to the left will be restricted. Residents of the capital are urged to take this into account when planning their trips and to be understanding of the temporary inconveniences.

“At the request of our military, the traffic regime on the Podilsky Bridge will change starting October 20. In the event of an air alert, traffic on the bridge from the right bank to the left will be limited. I ask everyone to be understanding and to consider this when planning their routes,” he said in his video address.

Accessibility of the Southern Bridge and Metro During Alerts

Tymur Tkachenko also emphasized that he has repeatedly raised the issue of the prolonged repairs on the Southern Bridge. He stressed that Kyiv residents deserve quality infrastructure, and the responsibility for the progress of the repair work lies with the city mayor, the relevant department, and municipal enterprises. The head of the KMVA called on the city authorities to report to citizens regarding the timelines and schedule of the repairs. Additionally, he instructed to develop a mechanism for the full restoration of ground metro traffic even during air alerts.

Moreover, new standards for mobile shelters have been approved in the capital. Tkachenko noted that these structures must meet safety standards, be connected to utilities, provide maintenance and control within a unified system, and be accessible to all residents.

“This is an extremely important direction. We have approved the requirements for these structures: safety, compliance with DSTU, connection to utilities, maintenance, accessibility, and control within a unified system,” Tkachenko emphasized.
