Last night, an emergency situation occurred aboard a military F-16 fighter jet that was on a combat mission. As a result of the emergency, the pilot was forced to eject and leave the aircraft. This incident was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Details of the Incident and Crew Actions
According to the General Staff, on May 16, 2025, at approximately 03:30, contact was lost with the Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet. The aircraft was engaged in a mission to repel an enemy air attack.
“On May 16, 2025, at about 03:30, contact was lost with the F-16 aircraft. The Ukrainian fighter was performing a mission to repel an enemy air attack. Preliminary reports indicate that the pilot destroyed three aerial targets and was engaging a fourth using the aircraft’s cannon. However, an emergency situation arose on board,”
the statement reads.
After the emergency situation developed, the pilot quickly maneuvered the aircraft away from populated areas and ejected. Thanks to the rapid actions of the search and rescue team, the pilot was quickly located and evacuated.
Health Status and Further Actions
According to representatives of the General Staff, the pilot’s condition is satisfactory. He is in a safe location, and his life and health are not in danger. A special commission has already been established to investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident and is actively working on the case.
