Detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine, uncovered three individuals involved in the misappropriation of state budget funds on a particularly large scale.

How the Scheme Operated and Who Organized It
According to the investigation, among the suspects are officials from a municipal enterprise responsible for the construction of road and transport facilities in the capital. They, along with representatives from several commercial companies, conspired to organize a corrupt scheme during the construction of the Podilsky Bridge crossing over the Dnipro River.
According to the investigation data, the suspects established the procurement of nylon nets at significantly inflated prices. In particular, companies from the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates purchased one net from a factory in Turkey for 110 dollars, then imported it to Ukraine and resold it to the municipal enterprise at six times the price. This is confirmed by customs documents indicating price inflation.
As a result, from 2017 to 2021, the suspects caused the state budget losses exceeding 153 million hryvnias. This information is corroborated by judicial examinations that thoroughly investigated the damages and the justification for the inflated prices.
