Law enforcement in the capital has shut down an online store that was selling psychotropic drugs disguised as weight loss products. During searches of the suspects, nearly 500,000 pills containing sibutramine were seized, with a black market value estimated at around 50 million hryvnias.

Online Sale of Psychotropics Disguised as Dietary Products
Kyiv law enforcement has charged a 54-year-old resident of the capital and a 47-year-old resident of the Odesa region with the storage and distribution of psychotropic substances. According to the investigation, these individuals organized the sale of weight loss products through online stores, which contained sibutramine—a psychotropic substance banned for free circulation in Ukraine. Customer orders were received online, and shipments were made via postal services across the country.
“It has been established that the suspects set up the sale of weight loss products containing the psychotropic substance sibutramine through online stores. They accepted orders online and sent them to customers by mail,” the statement reads.

Scale of Seizure and Cessation of Illegal Channel
During the conducted searches, law enforcement seized nearly half a million pills containing sibutramine from the suspects. Estimates suggest their value on the black market reaches nearly 50 million hryvnias. Additionally, the supply channel for these psychotropic drugs into Ukraine has been shut down.


The investigation into the illegal circulation of psychotropics is ongoing. All individuals involved in the organization and distribution of banned substances are being identified.
