In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a representative of ‘Kyivvodokanal’ while he was receiving part of an illegal benefit for facilitating the connection of a business to the city’s water supply and sewage system.

Circumstances of the Official’s Detention

According to the police, a 35-year-old employee of ‘Kyivvodokanal’ was detained immediately after receiving 225,000 hryvnias – half of the total bribe amount of 450,000 hryvnias. For this money, the official promised to influence the signing of the contract necessary for connecting the business to the city’s engineering networks.

Legal Consequences for the Detained

It was planned that the second part of the illegal benefit would be received by the official after the signing of the relevant documents. He is currently charged with receiving a bribe, which carries a penalty of up to three years in prison. In addition, he may be prohibited from holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to two years.
