Law enforcement in the capital has charged a teacher at a private kindergarten due to negligence that resulted in a serious injury to a two-year-old child. The incident occurred at the end of December last year in the Desnyanskyi district of Kyiv.

According to information from the Kyiv police communication department, during the investigation, it was revealed that the teacher was descending the stairs from the cafeteria while holding the boy’s hand. However, she lost her grip, causing the boy to fall to the floor and sustain a closed head injury, which is classified as a serious bodily injury.
“During the investigation, police determined that the teacher at the preschool was going down the stairs from the cafeteria while holding the two-year-old boy’s hand, but she lost her grip and the child fell to the floor, sustaining a closed head injury, which is classified as serious bodily harm.”
The 46-year-old woman has been charged under part 2 of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to the improper performance of duties regarding the protection of the life and health of children, leading to serious consequences. This article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for up to five years, as well as a possible prohibition on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years or without such prohibition.
