Robbers Who Attacked a Lawyer Detained in the Forest Massif

In the Forest Massif area of Kyiv, police detained two men suspected of attacking a lawyer. According to law enforcement, the assailants beat and robbed a 35-year-old man as he was returning home from the metro station.

Details of the Attack on the Lawyer

The victim reported to the police that he was attacked by unknown individuals who took his documents and valuable items. Based on the gathered information, the incident occurred in the evening while the lawyer was walking home. Two strangers approached him, provoking a conflict, and during the argument, they knocked the man to the ground and struck him in the head, after which they took his watch and backpack containing personal belongings.

“Law enforcement officials determined that in the evening, the victim was walking home from the metro when he was suddenly approached by two strangers who began to harass him, provoking a conflict. During the verbal altercation, the offenders knocked the 35-year-old victim to the ground and began hitting him in the head, causing bodily harm. Subsequently, the attackers removed the watch from the man’s wrist and took the backpack containing documents and valuables before fleeing,” the statement said.

Investigation and Preventive Measures

After receiving a description of the attackers, the operatives quickly located and detained them. It turned out that they were two local unemployed men aged 42 and 45. During searches, the stolen items belonging to the lawyer were recovered from the suspects.

Both men have been charged with robbery combined with violence, committed by a group of individuals under martial law (Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years. During the pre-trial investigation, the detainees will remain in custody without the possibility of bail.
