Kremlin Comments on Putin’s Position Regarding the US Peace Plan for Ukraine

The Kremlin stated that the remarks about President Vladimir Putin’s alleged rejection of the peace plan proposed by the US are not accurate. This was reported by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during a conversation with Russian journalists.

Details of the Negotiations in Moscow

According to Peskov, on December 2, a direct discussion took place in Moscow between representatives of the US and Russia regarding potential paths for peacefully resolving the war against Ukraine. American representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as well as Russian leader Vladimir Putin, participated in these negotiations.

“The fact is that a direct exchange of views occurred yesterday for the first time. Some things were accepted, while others were marked as unacceptable. This is a normal working process and a search for compromise,” stated the spokesman for the Russian leader.

Lack of Compromise and Future Meetings

After the conversation, Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov reported that no compromise regarding the peaceful resolution has been reached yet, although some American proposals are considered “more or less acceptable.” Ushakov also noted that there are currently no plans for a meeting between Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump. According to him, the prospect of such a meeting directly depends on the further progress in the negotiations.
