Kyiv Mayor Klitschko Ignores Appeals Regarding the Absence of Kyiv City Council Sessions

Мер Кличко проігнорував звернення щодо нескликання сесії Київради

Renowned lawyer and human rights activist Dmytro Kalko, representing the local community, has sent an official appeal to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

This is reported by Kyiv24

According to Dmytro Kalko, he has reached out to the city mayor to explain the reasons for the prolonged absence of sessions of the Kyiv City Council. The lack of plenary meetings has led to a backlog of important issues that require urgent resolution in the interests of Kyiv residents and the city community, particularly in the social and defense sectors.

The Opposition Expresses Concern, the Authorities Remain Silent

Opposition deputies of the Kyiv City Council are worried about the situation surrounding the council’s inaction. Meanwhile, the majority supporting the mayor shows no concern and seems satisfied with the current situation. According to Dmytro Kalko, his appeal was not personally addressed by Vitali Klitschko but was redirected to the head of the relevant committee of the city council, Leonid Yemtse.

“Vitali Klitschko did not personally address Dmytro Kalko’s appeal but redirected it to the head of the city council’s relevant committee, Leonid Yemtse.”

Response to the Appeal and Further Developments

Dmytro Kalko believes that such actions have violated his legal rights. He notes that the response from Deputy Yemtse is unfounded and resembles more of a formal reply. It is worth mentioning that after a three-month hiatus, a session of the Kyiv City Council took place on September 11, but lasted only an hour and a half, which did not allow for the resolution of the accumulated issues.
