The capital’s metro has stated that it is operating normally and all systems are functioning stably.

The management of the Kyiv Metro commented on information that has been actively circulated on social media regarding the alleged lack of lighting in the cars of the Kyiv subway. The agency emphasized that the incident involving a power outage was localized and did not affect train operations or station functionality.

Metro’s Remarks on Videos in Social Media

On November 11, a video appeared online, which users claim shows a power outage in one of the metro cars. However, the press service of the carrier noted that it is impossible to determine either the exact date or the location of the video recording. At the same time, the Kyiv Metro emphasized that the situation does not pertain to the overall operation of the metro, but was merely a temporary lighting failure in a specific car.

“The metro currently has power. It was a lighting failure in the car. Everything has been restored now. Sometimes it happens not only due to power outages outside, but also occasionally in the cars. However, there is light everywhere in the station vestibules,” the Kyiv Metro assured.

Safety and Stability of Train Operations

The subway’s press service also emphasized that the availability of power is confirmed by the stable operation of trains on all metro lines. The absence of lighting in the cabin of a particular car does not mean that the power supply for the entire train or stations has been disconnected.
Therefore, residents of Kyiv and visitors to the capital need not worry about the safety of traveling by metro. All systems are operating as usual, and instances of brief technical failures are promptly addressed by the company’s staff.
