In the capital of Ukraine, road services are actively using street watering in response to the abnormal heat. This measure helps not only to lower the temperature of the road surface but also to preserve it from damage.
The Purpose of Watering Streets on Hot Days
The municipal services of the capital explain that regular watering of highways significantly reduces the amount of dust in the air and prevents asphalt from overheating. As a result, the likelihood of road surface deformation decreases, which is particularly relevant during high temperatures.
“Watering the streets helps reduce dust and cool the surface to minimize deformations during the heat,” the municipal workers explained.
Organization of Municipal Services’ Work
According to the road service, priority is given to watering the highways of city and district significance, as they are used by the most heavy vehicles. A total of 32 specialized watering machines are deployed to carry out these tasks throughout the city.
Through this approach, Kyiv’s municipal services aim to provide more comfortable conditions for residents and visitors of the capital, as well as extend the lifespan of the road surface under challenging weather conditions.
