The National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” has received modern specialized equipment from Germany to ensure the reliable preservation of the Near and Far Caves. This assistance was provided by European partners with the support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the humanitarian initiative Ukraine Art Aid Center.

Modern Tools for Microclimate Control in the Caves
The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra has been supplied with dehumidifiers, anemometers, thermohygrometers, silica gel, and other necessary devices and materials to stabilize the microclimatic conditions in the underground complexes. These caves house a significant number of sacred relics that require constant monitoring of temperature and humidity. The specialists of the reserve emphasize that the provided equipment will ensure optimal conditions for preserving valuable exhibits and conducting quality monitoring of the storage conditions.
Support in Wartime
In addition to the microclimate control devices, museum professionals received wooden and plastic containers, as well as packaging materials for the transportation, storage, and possible evacuation of exhibits in case of threat from their German partners. Such support is especially important in wartime conditions, when ensuring the preservation of national cultural heritage takes on particular significance.
“For us, this assistance is crucial in the preservation of the cave complexes. The uniqueness of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra caves is recognized at a global level, and we are grateful to our partners for their support and for providing such important equipment for us,” said Acting General Director of the reserve Svitlana Kotliarevska.
Experts from the National Reserve emphasize that this humanitarian aid has not only practical but also symbolic significance: the international community supports Ukraine’s efforts to preserve cultural heritage even in extremely challenging conditions.
