Police Investigation: Information Not Confirmed

The Kyiv police conducted a thorough check after information about a series of attacks on women in the Obolon district appeared in local Telegram channels. According to the statement from law enforcement, the widely circulated post about a ‘hammer maniac’ who allegedly committed at least 11 attacks has not been confirmed. The police communicated with the author of the initial publication and checked all available reports, databases, and hospital records that partially matched the described events.

“Previously, local Telegram channels widely disseminated a post about a ‘hammer maniac’ attacking women in the Obolon district. The information proved to be unreliable and found no confirmation,” said the communications department of the Kyiv police.

No Reports from Victims or Witnesses

The police emphasized that the investigation also covered reports from citizens. According to Anna Strashok, a representative of the Kyiv police communications department, no reports have been received from potential victims or witnesses of such incidents following the spread of the rumors. All messages that could be related to the story about the ‘maniac’ were processed and disproven regarding their relevance to the circulated information.

Thus, law enforcement urges citizens not to spread unverified information and to trust only official statements.
