A repeat offender with multiple convictions for property crimes will spend seven years and one month behind bars for attacking children in the capital.

The Obolon District Court of Kyiv sentenced a 38-year-old local resident for the robbery of two schoolchildren that occurred in September this year near one of the shopping centers. The perpetrator first took a mobile phone from a 14-year-old girl and later, at another location, stole headphones from a 12-year-old boy.
Details of the case and arrest
After the parents reported to the police, operatives from the Obolon department, together with criminal analysts, quickly identified the attacker. It is known that the man had previously been held accountable for similar crimes multiple times. Within a few hours, law enforcement officers located and arrested the offender, recovering the stolen items from him.
“At that time, operatives from the Obolon police department, together with criminal analysts, quickly identified the perpetrator. He turned out to be a 38-year-old local resident, previously convicted multiple times for similar property crimes. Within a few hours, the police located and arrested him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, recovering the stolen items,” the police reported.

Court verdict
Investigators announced the man was suspected under part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery committed repeatedly under martial law. Throughout the pre-trial investigation, the suspect was held in custody.
As a result of the case review, the court found the accused guilty of committing the crimes and sentenced him to seven years and one month of imprisonment.
