A resident of Kyiv has received a 10-year prison sentence for setting fire to military equipment and a Ukrposhta branch

The Holosiivskyi District Court of the capital found a 41-year-old Kyiv resident guilty of carrying out a series of arsons in Kyiv. The criminal, working as a mechanic, agreed to cooperate with the Russian special services in pursuit of “easy” money.
How the Arsons Were Committed
The investigation established that the man used fuel that he drained from vehicles during maintenance, without informing the owners. After agreeing on the details with his handler, he set fire to two cars belonging to military personnel, as well as a Ukrposhta branch.
“The suspect is a 41-year-old local resident who worked as a mechanic in the capital. In pursuit of ‘easy’ money, the man agreed to cooperate with the Russian special services and committed a series of arsons. As an incendiary mixture, the Kyiv resident used fuel from vehicles that he serviced, which he discreetly drained without the owners’ knowledge. After agreeing on the targets with his handler, he set fire to two cars belonging to military personnel and a Ukrposhta branch,” the statement reads.

Arrest and Court Verdict
In December of last year, law enforcement officers, together with SBU employees, arrested the arsonist. He was charged with several offenses: sabotage committed under martial law, interference with the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and intentional destruction of property.

The court decided to impose a sentence of ten years of imprisonment on the perpetrator, along with the confiscation of property.
