An 18-Year-Old Arsonist Arrested in Kyiv, Acting on Behalf of Russian Special Services

Searching for “work” online ended with a criminal case

Police arrested an 18-year-old resident of the Kyiv region who set fire to cars near a gas station in the capital. The investigation revealed that the young man came across an advertisement for a “job” that involved setting vehicles on fire in Kyiv. The instructions were given by representatives of the Russian special services.

“Acting on hostile instructions, the young man arrived at a garage cooperative located near the gas station in the Obolon district, looking for cars belonging to military personnel. However, he did not find the required vehicles, so he decided to set fire to civilian cars. The offender doused parked Mercedes-Benz and BMW vehicles with flammable liquid and ignited them. As a result of the fire, two cars were completely destroyed, and a third car, a Hyundai, was partially damaged,” the police reported.

Arrest and Consequences of the Crime

Operatives, together with criminal analysis analysts, quickly identified the suspect and arrested him. The 18-year-old has already been notified of suspicion under part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional destruction or damage to someone else’s property by arson. He faces up to ten years in prison for his actions.

Law enforcement once again reminds citizens of the dangers of collaborating with the enemy, urging them to be vigilant and not to fall for suspicious job offers that may involve calls to commit crimes. In case of receiving such offers, the police advise to immediately contact the number 102.
