Residents of Kyiv have initiated a petition to enhance comfort in the city’s public transport.
The capital’s inhabitants have appealed to the “Kyivpastrans” company, demanding the mandatory activation of air conditioning in the cabins of buses, trams, and trolleybuses during the summer heat. The corresponding electronic petition has already been posted on the official website of the Kyiv City Council.
Air Conditioning Issues in New Transport
The authors of the initiative point out that Kyiv has many modern units of public transport, including buses, trams, and trolleybuses, which have been provided to the city by international partners. However, they claim that even in new transport, air conditioning often remains turned off or does not function properly during the summer.
Care for Passengers with Special Needs
Kyiv residents emphasize that the issue of comfort during the hot season is particularly important for passengers with limited mobility, seniors, mothers with children, and people with disabilities. According to the petition authors, the city authorities need to make greater efforts to create safe and comfortable conditions in public transport.
“Air conditioning must be installed in every unit of transport and, most importantly, must work; in summer it should cool, and in winter it should heat,” the capital’s residents urged the city authorities to take action.
