Residents of Kyiv are urging the city authorities to create a program for restoring the facades of buildings that have been damaged by airstrikes.

Kyiv residents have initiated an electronic petition demanding the development and implementation of a comprehensive approach to repairing residential buildings that were damaged as a result of Russian aggression. The public believes that boarding up windows with plywood is not an effective solution to the problems caused by the strikes on the capital.
Petition Calling on Authorities
The relevant initiative has already appeared on the official portal of the Kyiv City Council. In their appeal, the authors of the petition suggest that in cases where a residential building remains habitable but has significant facade damage, the responsible authorities should carry out not only current repairs but also complete reconstruction. Moreover, the facades should meet modern energy efficiency standards and harmoniously fit into the urban architecture.
The petition signatories emphasize that since February 2022, over 1,300 residential buildings in the capital have been damaged due to airstrikes, and they can be restored simultaneously while conducting repairs according to modern building norms and standards.
The Need for a Modern Approach to Reconstruction
The authors of the initiative are convinced that the issue of restoration should be considered comprehensively. New facades should not only be restored but also provide a high level of energy conservation, aesthetics, and safety. This will not only allow the buildings to regain their original appearance but also enhance their quality and functionality in accordance with modern requirements.
