Petition for Open Metro Cars
An electronic petition has appeared on the official portal of the Kyiv City Council, suggesting that metro cars be kept open at underground stations during nighttime when air alerts are declared. The initiative aims to provide more comfortable conditions for people who are forced to seek shelter in the metro during shelling.
Benefits for Passengers During Alerts
The author of the petition points out that currently, people taking refuge in the metro often have to sit on the floor, stairs, or stand in the vestibules for hours without proper conditions to rest. Keeping metro cars with open doors will create additional shelter space and ensure greater safety during mass shelling.
“I propose to adopt a decision to keep at least some trains with open doors at underground metro stations during air alerts at night,” the petition states.
It is noted that implementing this initiative does not require significant financial expenditures, yet it will greatly improve the conditions for residents and visitors in the underground.
