A court found a 71-year-old woman from Kyiv guilty of murdering her husband and sentenced her to eight years of imprisonment. The incident occurred in February 2019 when the woman struck her 82-year-old husband 18 times on the head, resulting in his death. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

Case Circumstances and the Defendant’s Position
According to the investigation, the couple had been married for five years, but shortly after the murder, the husband filed for divorce. In court, the defendant did not admit her guilt. She stated that on the day of the tragedy, she was getting ready for work when her husband started an argument and kicked her in the back. In response, she claimed to have struck her husband twice on the head with a rolling pin and then left for work. Her husband’s body was later discovered by a relative who was supposed to visit him that day but could not reach him.
The defendant also claims that her husband had recently been abusing cognac and had perverse sexual fantasies. However, the prosecution reports that her version of only two strikes and the suggestion that someone else might have killed him are not supported by the evidence presented in court.
