Destruction in Kyiv Districts: Housing, Infrastructure, Transport

As a result of the massive shelling, residential buildings and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged in several areas of the capital. In the Solomianskyi district, a five-story building was partially destroyed, and a fire broke out on the roof of a seven-story building. The fire also engulfed a warehouse, areas of a car service station, and a garage cooperative, significantly damaging civilian objects.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, after a strike on a 14-story residential building, the second and third floors caught fire, as well as cars in the yard of a neighboring high-rise. Firefighting efforts are ongoing in non-residential buildings. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, an uninhabited eight-story building was also hit — damage was recorded on the first floor. In the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, debris from drones was found.

“Rescuers are addressing the aftermath in several districts of Kyiv. Residential buildings, educational, medical, and transport infrastructure have been affected,” the report states.

Casualties, Rescuer Operations, and Transport Situation

Information regarding the number of casualties is being clarified. Over 450 rescuers and nearly 100 units of equipment are involved in eliminating the consequences of the shelling. According to preliminary data, 23 residents of Kyiv were injured in the attack, including a 10-year-old girl. Five individuals are receiving outpatient care, while another 14 have been hospitalized.

Due to damage to the transport infrastructure, the Kyiv City Express suburban trains are only operating on the northern semi-ring (Sviatoshyn-Pochaiv-Darnytsia) in both directions, causing schedule deviations. Traffic is partially blocked on Zhmerynska, Yakuba Kolasa streets, and Vidradnyi Avenue. Trolleybus route No. 41 is blocked, while No. 27 operates to the Industrial Bridge. Buses No. 78, No. 9, No. 69, No. 2, and No. 75 are running on altered routes. Delays have also been recorded for train departures from Kyiv.

Details of the Attack: Scale and Air Defense Actions

On the night of July 4, Russia launched a powerful air assault on Ukraine, using 550 air attack means, including 539 Shahed strike drones and various types of imitation drones from the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as one Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile, six Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, and four Iskander-K cruise missiles. The main target of the strike was the capital of Ukraine.

The city’s defense was provided by aviation units, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces. As of 08:00, air defense had destroyed 478 air attack means, of which 270 were by fire means, and another 208 were localized with losses. Two Iskander-K cruise missiles were neutralized.

Despite the effective work of air defense, the enemy managed to cause destruction in eight locations (9 missiles and 63 drones), and debris from the downed objects fell in 33 places in the city. As a result of the shelling, educational, medical, and transport infrastructure, as well as housing stock, were damaged.
